Overcoming the fear to ‘tuck’…

I have been weary of the tucked in look since I birthed my two children. I have a visible ‘mummy tummy’ and it’s honestly annoying how much I worry about it. Self-conscious is an extreme understatement! Usually I wear tops that cover my pockets and fall mid-zipper to completely hide my stomach entirely. Nothing form fitting and tucked in… are you kidding?! NOPE. I always felt that it accentuated every lump and bump that I was worried about….

Today when I was getting dressed I had envisioned the cutest outfit and when I put it on I realized that the top needed to be tucked in for sure. I always try it, never end up wearing it! Today… I wore it. And I’m SO happy I did!

Today’s outfit has had me glowing all day! This top is from J.Crew last season, but I linked this years version. I currently have it sitting in my cart because I like the no collar look better! Collars tend to get my hair all in a fuss! Chambray is always such a casual clean look and so comfortable that I love wearing it! It’s such a versatile look!

My favorite white denim from Loft of course had to make an appearance… it’s been a while since I’ve worn them! I love these in petite and think that they’re the perfect addition to the chambray top! Always comfortable, completely wash and wearable! Which is a big deal when you’re talking white denim!

I snagged these adorable platform wedges while we lived in Japan and they’re some of my favorites… so well made too! I’ve never been able to locate them online, however I did link some of my favorites down below! I’m on a total neutral wedge think right now honey and I think they’re going to be a constant all summer!

This Loeffler Randall pompom trim circular tote is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen and just radiates the beachy fun vibes I’m looking for! The tassels are just everything and surprisingly it fits everything I need! Wallet, sunnies and a few lippies! Perfect!

What do you guys think?? Should this momma start rocking the ‘tuck’ again?!

Weighing In // What to Wear

I’ve currently lost 23lbs and probably 15lbs since this photo was taken… I’m struggling with my current closet. Just this week alone… the scale has pretty much stayed the same, but my body has changed so dramatically that I can wear things I couldn’t even get over my knees in November. I have gone from a solid 12/14 to an 8/10 and in my last business venture… I got rid of a HUGE portion of my own personal wardrobe. I kept quite a bit of my wear to work clothes, but got rid of most everything else. Now I’m here, struggling with my closet.

I can’t say that I’m not ecstatic about running out of things to wear… but it’s an issue when you’re business is centered around fashion and your wardrobe! HA! One HUGE help has been utilizing my connection to Rent the Runway! I enjoy the Unlimited membership which allows me to always have 4 pieces out and rotate them as much as I’d like during the month! I can have coats, tops, bottoms and jewelry… I can have bags or sunglasses or even evening gowns. They have so much to choose from and it’s getting me back to my old self… just trying things that I love. I try order what I like… regardless of if I think it’s going to fit or look good on me. If I like it…. I order it.

ACS_0107Recently I ordered a denim dress from Trina Turk, she has amazing style and I just loved this Denim Jamille dress. Sadly the largest size available was a 10. Usually dresses especially do not fit me… I’ve got curves, most designers I seem to cater to the more straight and narrow. I finally talk myself into this dress after what seems like an hour of going back and forth because I can be ridiculously indecisive. Even after ordering I was already mentally preparing myself for it to just not fit… I thought that I could possibly tuck it into a skirt or just use it for a flatlay at the very least…

It gets here today and…. It was too big. I opened the garment bag… threw it on. It is too big. Ladies… I wear a lot of things on repeat and getting this denim dress was something new… something unexpected and it was too BIG. I immediately ran to my closet and grabbed a few things I’ve just been dying to get back into, stripped down and threw on a romper.

Ann Taylor Pocketed Romper

A little about this romper – I had planned to wear it as recently as this past  November when I was visiting Chris in UAE. However it didn’t even make it to the suitcase because I couldn’t get it past my knee caps. Today, it fit perfectly. Here is one similar for $39… I absolutely love this one too!

Then I thought what else is in here that I can wear again?! Picture clothes flying everywhere!! I threw on a little backless black dress I haven’t been able to wear in YEARS…. I could rock it today.

J.Crew Backless Summer LBD

In this moment all the wine I’ve given up drinking, the carbs I’ve given up eating and the sugar I have NOT been enjoying has been worth it. I have felt so different, healthier and just overall better but you still find yourself negotiating with change and the urge to give in. Right?! You say… I’ve earned this donut… this glass of wine, this beer… this nap. I mean I didn’t really gain the weight I’ve put on from overeating I would say… it was more stress with no activity and making poor meal choices. Because on average I was eating mayyyybe one full meal a day, either a large breakfast or dinner… in between it was a piece of fruit, a yogurt snack or something. I’m not a huge snacker. But it all make sense now and I’m finding my way back to where I feel comfortable. Back to where I feel GOOD  about myself again, all of me!

You guys this monumental feeling was amazing… as you can see I grew more and more excited with every piece I put on!!! I’m headed in a good direction and I’m so happy about it. While there are a lot of pieces that I can make work a little while longer, standby for tomorrow because I’m headed to Loft to SHOP! I need a few new pieces and I’m really loving what they’ve got out right now! Follow me on IG for the try on hauls!

COLD yet stylish…

Of course, I wanted nothing more than to stay horizontal on the couch underneath blankets ALL DAY. I’m talking Fixer Upper marathons, fire and hot cocoa kind of day. But no… I had about a million errands to run, I was showing the house AND mail yesterday was phenomenal. I got this amazing tunnelneck boxy top from J.Crew (on sale HERE for just $34.50) and it has been calling my name ever since it showed up on my doorstep. Yesterday it was so beautiful outside, a breezy Spring day is what it felt like… today, we’re back to the frozen tundra.

After my shower, I was so unsure about what to wear… when it’s so cold outside that even Bailey doesn’t want to go out… it’s cold. I almost decided to forego my cute new top and throw on a giant hoodie instead…. but I’m so glad I quickly talked myself out of it! I pulled out my white jeans and this new boxy top and started with a black and white plain canvas…. what to wear with it?!

I just got this amazing Tara Jarmon Wide Cuff Coat from Rent the Runway and I instantly fell in love! The color is cream but it almost has like a delicate pink hue which is a subtle feminine touch on this strong, heavy coat. I’m so glad I gave this coat a chance because I think I’m going to have to buy it… it’s that good. The fabric is quality and heavy, just feels luxurious and I love it. The detail in the trim and the pockets is gorgeous and takes it from plain and simple to sexy and sophisticated! You could wear this back and forth to work or over a LBD for an evening out!

With such monochromatic pieces I wanted a punch of color so of course I went with dashing deep red for my bag! This cherry Jamie Clutch is the perfect size and the color is the perfect true red! I love Tory Burch and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint! When I’m running errands and hopping in and out of the car, I want a stylish but useful crossbody bag! I have carried some hideous ones… I know quite a few people that will be happy to see that I’ve stepped up the crossbody game!

Lastly I’ll boast about these adorable leopard shoes. They’re from my Chic Little Shop and absolutely my favorite flats right now. The leopard was the little touch of fun that I needed to complete the look. They also fall into the category of ‘wear all day’ shoes and I knew I wouldn’t end up limping before the day was through…. HA! In all seriousness I almost wore boots because it was so cold, but again glad I talked myself into wearing a little spunk on my feet. I felt like they were the perfect touch!

The simplicity of this outfit was perfect for today. I was SO warm and cozy all day… I felt like I was cuddled up on the couch with my hot cocoa… the soft sweatshirt kept me warm and since the neck was high I skipped the bulky scarf. The coat kept me warm without being too hot and I found uses for all four perfectly placed pockets today, they saved me a time or two!

I think that we can easily throw on a pair of sweats or the biggest sweatshirt we own when it’s cold out… but we don’t always have to! Today I SLAYED my to-do list… I felt confident yet comfortable. I also somehow managed to keep my white pants and cream color jacket free of stains! Which was a task considering my day consisted of two cups of cappuccino, a filthy park bench, cleaning the kitchen and laundry, running errands, Bailey and cooking/enjoying incredibly messy taco boats. This never happens! But I’ll take it!

Until tomorrow, ciao!

Valentines Day Lookbook

pexels-photo-318379.jpegAll of a sudden today while I was getting ready it dawned on me…. VALENTINE’S DAY! It’s sneaking up on us real quick! Of course because Chris isn’t going to be here my planning is a little easier, his Valentine is already in the mail! I still take care of my honey on the holidays he misses! #carepackage

Now what to do here?! The boys and I are going to a fun dinner out at our favorite restaurant nearby… so I want to look nice but more conservative obviously! I’ll save the heat for when Chris get’s back! Heh!

ACS_0076Anytime I start thinking about an outfit for a specific occasion I usually lock onto one item first and build on it. Today it happened to be a rich burgundy pair of pants! Snag THESE at Nordstrom, they’re KUT from the Kloth and they’re currently 50% off!!! Just $34.75!! Score!  I love anytime I can order petite because even though I do rock my curves, I’m short! I have short legs and a short torso, petite pants and dresses fit perfect! I wish more clothes came in petite! :end rant:

My jacket is an oldie but goodie from Express, it was an awesome dupe for a much more expensive jacket and personally it was more comfortable too!! I’ve found a similar jacket HERE! It’s adorable and on SALE at Guess! Only $49!

ACS_0079I love wearing fun heels or statement shoes with skinnies! They are the perfect pant to show off your shoe game! These Chinese Laundry nude  pumps add a little spice to my otherwise ‘mom’ outfit! Now heels, especially when I’m out with the boys, I don’t want them to be too high. These are a good moderate heel that I’ve even worn to work many times. I can walk, run or even climb stairs with ease in these babies! I shy away from the kitten heel to lengthen my body, but keep it mid-height and manageable. THESE are also Chinese Laundry and while they’re $99, grab you another pair! Use code FEB50 and get one pair for 50% off! I love a good shoe sale!

ACS_0078My top even though it’s covered is a Gap favorite from last year. I just found almost the SAME one for $12.97, also at Gap… HERE! It’s a wear anywhere, with just about anything top! I love it and of course Gap is awesome about having gorgeous pieces that are wash and wear… perfect for busy moms!

A little subtle smoke to my normal everyday eye to give it a little bit of drama… I used the Mad For Matte palette from e.l.f. Cosmetics and it’s only $10!  I also used their Studio Matte Lip Color in Wine for a pop of color on my lips! I love these and get one in EVERY color because… $3!

Now let’s talk about those of you lucky enough to spend your V-Day with your handsome husbands!! I looked everywhere high and low to find the pieces that I would be wearing if I could paint the town red with my hunky husband!!

Let’s get S E X Y

shoppingI’m in LOVE with lace dresses right now. They’re sexy and I’ve not tried one on that isn’t flattering! This one is super affordable from ASOS! I love that it has the cap sleeves and with the high neck detail you of course wouldn’t need a necklace, just a simple diamond or stud earrings. Simple and sexy! Snag this one HERE and you better be quick because it’s on sale for only $69!

Shoes would be easy… my favorite nude strappy heels from Steve Madden. These are perfect to pair with any dress that makes such a bold statement. Find them HERE for $79.95.

Another subtle sexy dress is this one from Express. I love that it’s going to hug your curves and give an hourglass shape. Made to stretch it’s going to be an option for comfort too, which is always a bonus! Now with this cut-out detail in the back!! Stop it! I love this! Express knows how to bring it too with quality party dresses so I know this one is a show stopper! Grab it HERE for $88!

hmprodYou could also go with something more casual and sexy like this top from H&M it’s bold red color would be well balanced with a pair of black leggings! This Jersey tunic is a bargain at $24.99 and available up to 4XL. Grab it HERE! I’d accessorize with a statement necklace to give it some sparkle!

_101537725Now that my mind is on leggings… a faux leather legging with this tunic would be amazing and I just found out SPANX made them. The price tag is a little high, but they’ve got the reputation for quality so I’m sure they’re worth it! I’ve linked them HERE and they’re also available at Nordstroms. If you’re one who loves to try things like this on rather than order online.

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day, but promise me however you’re going to spend it… you’re going to look FABULOUSSSS!!!
