Bringing a WINTER closet into S P R I N G!

woman-legs-flowers-summer.jpgPretty soon as more 70-75° days become more frequent, the inner babes catch the fever and we ditch the jackets, the coats, beanies to bring color into our wardrobes and show a little more s k i n! And I can’t wait… Spring is so beautiful and a time when I personally just want to be outside! Which it can get tricky because there’s always this awkward period of time where you’re not sure if its going to be too hot for this sweater or if you could get away with wearing that short dress… I took a hard look into my closet yesterday putting together some outfits in hopes that we might be able to conquer the awkward period this year. Hopefully with pieces we already have in our closets… but if not, they’re good, solid and affordable staples and I’ll make sure to link them below! Let’s get ready for Spring!
Early Spring Essentials

Blazer: Talbots, Skirt: Ann Taylor, Top: H&M, Sunnies: DIFF Eyewear

While you’re not going to be needing heavy parkas you still usually need something especially if you’re like me and ALWAYS get cold. The trick here is to have something a little more versatile, something a little more wind resistant but nothing too bulky. Do not under estimate the chic and sophisticated look of a cute blazer! One of my favorite looks is to put on a sexy, spring tank and pair it with the texture of a wool or knit blazer. The layer is going to give the warmth you need for the season but everything else you bring to the look will determine the overall theme. The vibrant peach of the silky tank is of course the perfect Spring color and showcasing your stems brings you right where you want to be. Tie it all together with a wedged sandal (like THIS one) to make it more casual or your favorite pump to walk it into the office.

Some of my favorite places to snag blazers (they offer petite sizing) and usually you can catch them on a killer sale!  or

Faux Leather Jacket: Forever 21, Tee: Forever 21 Contemporary, Wristlet: Michael Kors, Earrings: Moment

Another fun way to spice up an outfit with a more Spring suited layer is to grab a leather jacket. They can be dressed up, down and come in various colors too! Versatile and ready to either be a statement piece or just another layer. Here’s a favorite of mine from Forever 21, of course it’s faux leather and so lightweight I can even wear it on a cool summer night! But the surface being so wind resistant makes it perfect to bring out this time of year… usually it’s going to be the breeze keeping us cold! I went for a neutral nude so that I can frequently reach for this jacket ALL year long!

Sweater: Michael Kors, Necklace: Francescas

Spring is time to pull out those off the shoulder, oversized sweaters. Leave the layers at home and stay comfortable in the light weight or chunky cable knit sweaters. I love the off the shoulder look for its simplicity and the romance…. perfect for date night or subtle enough for leggings and wedges to conquer a grocery store run. It’s chic and simple. This one was a swanky snag at Marshalls, it’s a Michael Kors tunic so I can wear it with leggings and sandals. I’ve found two I love, this one and a more affordable option here.

H&M Pullover – ON SALE – $17

If you’re not as comfortable with the off the shoulder sweaters and tunics that’s ok! Even the oversized crew neck is just fine! Just make sure that it is lightweight! I know you have plenty in your closet already, the ones that you layer with your scarves or maybe even throw on under a vest… these are perfect alone in the springtime! Maybe even add a contrasting color tank underneath to add some dimension and interest. I love this one that I found and it’s so affordable, under $20!! Love H&M! Another option to this lightweight look is to pull out your sweaters that have a more loose weave or knit… so cute to bring into the Spring heat!

Marc Fisher Helina Wedge – ON SALE – $54

Break out the wedges… it’s time! Such an easy fix to even some of your favorite winter looks… change up your footwear! Simply reaching for a sandal instead of your boots can bring a whole new look and a completely different feel to those outfits. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and colors but always have a good taupe or neutral pair on hand… I promise you’re going to wear them out! I wear mine ALL summer long, especially with shorts and dresses!

Target Footbed Sandal $22.50

These you’re going to want to wear all summer too… think jeans and a loose fit tee. I’ve seen them in so many different colors, some looking more neutral and feminine while others keep the Birkenstock-ish look going like these. I personally like the more simple look, less of a statement for that relaxed everyday look. Either way, hey… suns out so get your toes out!! Time for those Pedicures!! Shop this look HERE!

Target Woven Mule $24.99

HERE the mule is making a hardcore comeback and if you’re following fashion on social media you’ve already seen it everywhere. This winter it was all about the black… now that we’re going into Spring, look for the lighter colors or play with the woven and textured pairs to see how you like them with your pixie pants or your skinny denim. They’re really a comfortable alternative slip-on to the over worn flip-flop that I’m NOT going to criticize because I’m going to overwear my favorite pair a TON this summer! Ha! #flipflopgirlforlife

I hope this helps to open up your closet a little more as we move into the Spring season… remember that pieces alone vs. pieces put together with your favorite layers and accessories are a whole new wardrobe! Let me know what you think about these ideas, the looks and if you’re going to be trying any of these this season! Especially the mule, are you team YAY or NAY on that one?!

See you tomorrow!
